I am Larry Thompson, an extrovert who loves to laugh, tell stories, teach about Jesus, golf, drink diet coke, invest in people and encourage as many as possible. I married my college sweetheart, Cynthia, and we are grateful for a wonderful family of two accomplished daughters, two great sons-in-law and two grandsons who share life’s most candid and precious moments.

After initially working in the business community and then leading churches for several decades, I am eager to share with others what I have learned in my journey. God has allowed me a wide range of leadership experiences, led me through challenging transitions in church cultures and brought me an eclectic assortment of friends and co-workers.

Growing up in the Midwest and then pastoring the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale for the last 22 years has balanced my common sense values with a fusion of cultural diversity and innovation. My background has helped me to embrace change and foster transition in people, organizations and communities.

Everyone has defining moments when God sends an encourager, mentor, teacher, listener, leader, friend or advocate to guide and support his or her journey. Whether speaking, coaching, strengthening marriages, leading churches through transition, hosting pilgrimages in Israel or serving alongside international workers, investing in people is a thrilling endeavor for me.

I choose to be a positive and encouraging influencer, praying that God will use my experiences and love for Him and people to bring grace and goodness to individuals, families, churches and communities. God has allowed me to minister beyond the limits of generation or geography and I am grateful.
